Hostage

You broke my heart when you left.

You shattered the broken pieces when you won’t tell why.

You made me spent years hating you and I.

And now that I’m finally fine,

you hold hostage my patched-up heart.

Because of you, I am scared of  giving my heart.

Poetry

Disinter

Thy eyes open to bleakness

Forlorn envisaging dreariness

Surviving to endure

Respiring just to expire

Force wield to quiver

Adorned carriage of vanity shiver

Alight to comprehend

Falsity of truth apprehend

Rays been deterred infiltrate

Bared to illuminate

Perplexed to newfound miscellany

Galvanized by volatile mystery

Patriotism: Love for Country and Its Peoples

“It starts with understanding.  It starts with learning.”

We are a country of diverse peoples.  The consequence of diversity is indifference.  Indifference breeds anonymity.  Anonymity leads to misunderstanding.  Misunderstanding births hate.  And sadly, hate can be inherited.

Our country today is a product of generations of hate.  Hate that has been nurtured with multitudes of injustice.  Our country today is the result of our past and must never be continued in the future.

Let us stop hate by giving justice to those who were done injustice.  Humility to those who’ve done wrong and graciousness to those who have been wronged.

This is a matter of the general consensus agreeing to stop hate now and finding a balance where all sides could harmoniously live along each other.

It starts with understanding.  It starts with learning.

Re-education of the old through various means of propaganda and the deep and firm education of the youth on patriotism, the love for country and its diverse peoples.

History, cultures and religions, and, values of human dignity and humanity must be incorporated in the education’s curriculum and must be inculcated to the peoples and the youth.  History must be taught, where all sides are represented and where no side is made better than the other.  Cultures and religions must be known, understood and respected.  Human dignity and humanity must be cherished and upheld.  Patriotism must be lived, not merely be taught.

But sadly, as it appears to me, our hate is too deep that change is improbable.  Is it already too deep-rooted that reconciliation is impossible?
